Overview

The Communications Specialist supports cross-organizational communication initiatives by developing, coordinating, and delivering content aligned with organizational goals. This role creates strategic messaging across multiple platforms and ensures clarity, consistency, and visual effectiveness in communications. The position collaborates with technical subject matter experts to translate complex information into accessible and engaging materials.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate communications across cross-organizational units to ensure message alignment and consistency.

  • Develop and execute communication plans supporting organizational initiatives.

  • Create and deliver content through PowerPoint presentations, memoranda, email communications, blogs, social media, brochures, newsletters, and other publications.

  • Develop and maintain communication style guides and branding standards.

  • Review communications from technical subject matter experts and refine messaging for clarity and audience engagement.

  • Develop graphic visualizations and visual content to support messaging objectives.

  • Ensure communications align with organizational policies and strategic priorities.

  • Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to identify communication needs.

  • Monitor communication effectiveness and recommend improvements.

  • Maintain organized documentation of communication materials and plans.

Qualifications

  • Approximately four (4) years of experience in communications, public affairs, marketing, or related field.

  • Experience developing communication plans and multi-channel content strategies.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Experience creating visual and graphic content to enhance messaging.

  • Ability to translate technical information into audience-appropriate communications.

  • Proficiency in presentation and content development tools (e.g., PowerPoint and related platforms).

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.

  • Effective collaboration skills across functional teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple communication initiatives simultaneously.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related field required;
OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
