Overview

The Vice President of Accounting & Finance will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing all financial operations of the company. This role is responsible for driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance with federal contracting regulations, and maintaining the integrity of the company’s financial systems. The VP will provide executive-level guidance on budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and long-term financial planning, while also ensuring day-to-day operational excellence in the Accounting and Finance Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all accounting and finance functions.

  • Oversee operations of the Accounting & Finance Department, including general ledger, billing, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and tax compliance.

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.

  • Lead the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports in accordance with GAAP and government contracting standards.

  • Direct the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans; analyze and report significant variances.

  • Support proposal activities through cost/price development, financial analysis, and contract negotiations in response to RFPs and RFQs.

  • Ensure compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), FAR/DFARS, and DCAA/DCMA audit requirements.

  • Manage preparation and review of incurred cost submissions and forward pricing rate proposals.

  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies.

  • Advise executive leadership on financial performance, risk management, and strategic investments.

  • Mentor and develop accounting and finance staff, promoting a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational success.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller or senior financial leader within a government contracting environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), FAR/DFARS, and DCAA/DCMA audit requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial strategies.

  • Proficiency with DCAA-compliant ERP systems; Deltek Costpoint experience strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to provide strategic guidance while also managing operational details.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence at the executive level.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.

  • Master’s degree (MBA or related field) strongly preferred.

Certification(s)

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) strongly preferred.

 

Location and Work Hours

  • Position based at Tampa, FL headquarters (Zip Code: 33634).

  • Hybrid schedule: Core office hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM.

  • Remote flexibility on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
