Overview

The Project Controller will provide comprehensive support to the Director of Contracts and Quality, Division Executives, Program Managers, and Project Managers. Serving as the primary point of contact for contract administration, project control, financial monitoring, and delivery oversight, this role ensures effective contract and program execution while maintaining high standards of quality, timeliness, and attention to detail. The Project Controller will proactively collaborate with leadership and project teams to achieve contract performance objectives, support leadership reviews, manage delivery processes, and contribute to the company’s growth and success with Federal clients.

Responsibilities

Contract & Financial Management

  • Serve as the principal point of contact for daily actions related to contract administration, project control, and pricing/cost analysis.

  • Maintain the CostPoint contracts module and ensure accuracy of contract-related fields.

  • Monitor and report on contract burn rates, labor/non-labor funding, and workforce figures, including projections and variance analysis.

  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly/weekly financial and performance reports.

  • Review contract modifications (MODs) and assess financial and operational impacts.

  • Support development of Estimates at Completion (EAC) and Estimates to Complete (ETC), highlighting variances.

  • Assist with pricing tasks, including labor category mapping, labor market surveys, and developing basic pricing workbooks for proposals and RFPs.

Program Delivery & Oversight

  • Support Program Managers in defining and documenting project tasks, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Develop an understanding of project scope to ensure all requirements are met successfully.

  • Track, record, and report program projections and financial data to leadership and clients.

  • Coordinate resource allocation to ensure timely and accurate completion of milestones.

  • Manage customer expectations regarding scope, execution, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot delivery issues quickly and effectively.

  • Support development of staff augmentation and workforce planning efforts.

  • Liaise with Talent Acquisition to support candidate selection and onboarding documentation.

  • Assist with employee engagement activities and compliance tasks (e.g., mandatory security training).

Reporting & Coordination

  • Use CostPoint and MS Office tools to generate dashboards, ad hoc reports, and presentations for executives and program teams.

  • Act as a liaison between Contracts, Finance, and Operations to support program execution.

  • Recommend and implement approved Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track contract and program performance.

Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of experience in contract/project control, financial management, project management, or program delivery supporting Federal clients.

  • Experience with Deltek CostPoint and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and/or DoD procurement policies/procedures.

  • Proven ability to prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and executive-level presentations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and operational management.

  • Highly organized, process-oriented, and detail-focused with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate with urgency and proactive follow-through on leadership inquiries.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field (or 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of degree).
